Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2025
1. Agreement to Terms
1.1 Who you are contracting with
The Find A Start website and mobile applications (collectively, the “Service”) are operated by Find A Start Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales (company number 14806770) with its registered office at Hunters Moon, Chiddingly Road, Horam, Heathfield, East Sussex, TN21 0JJ (“Find A Start,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
1.2 When you agree
You form a binding contract with us and accept these Terms:
• Click-wrap: when you tick the “I agree” (or equivalent) box during account sign-up; and
• Browse-wrap: each time you access or use any part of the Service after sign-up.
If you do not agree, you must not use—or must immediately stop using—the Service.
1.3 Minimum age and UK-only scope
The Service is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old and legally entitled to live and work in the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you meet these criteria and understand that we may request proof of age or UK work entitlement if we suspect misuse.
1.4 Documents that are part of this agreement
These Terms incorporate, and you also agree to, our Privacy Policy (available within the app and at findastart.co.uk/privacy) and any additional terms we expressly state apply to particular features or promotions. Future feature-specific terms will supplement (and, if they conflict, override) these Terms for that feature.
1.5 Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. We will give you at least 14 days’ prior notice by email (sent to the address linked to your account). The updated Terms will state the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not accept the changes, you must delete your account and stop using the Service before the effective date.
1.6 Right to refuse or terminate
We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate any account that (i) does not meet the eligibility requirements above, (ii) provides false information, or (iii) otherwise breaches these Terms.
1.7 Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to info@findastart.co.uk.
2. Our Role as a Venue
2.1 Online marketplace only
Find A Start provides a self-service digital platform that enables UK-based job-seekers to discover, apply for, and communicate about work opportunities posted by third-party hirers (the “Hiring Parties”). We do not create those job listings; Hiring Parties control the content, schedules, rates, and selection decisions.
2.2 Not an employment agency or employment business
For the purposes of the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, Find A Start is neither an “employment agency” nor an “employment business.” We do not “introduce,” “supply,” or place job-seekers with Hiring Parties, nor do we negotiate or conclude contracts of employment on anyone’s behalf.
2.3 No employer or representative relationship
Find A Start is not:
• the employer of record for any job-seeker;
• a representative, agent, joint venturer, or partner of any Hiring Party; or
• a party to any contract or work arrangement formed between users.
Any rights, obligations, remuneration, taxes, insurance, health-and-safety duties, or statutory employment protections arising from a job are strictly between the relevant Hiring Party and the job-seeker.
2.4 No verification or guarantee
We do not:
• verify the identity, legal entitlement to work, qualifications, or creditworthiness of job-seekers; or
• vet the legitimacy, solvency, compliance, or suitability of Hiring Parties or their listings.
Accordingly, we make no guarantee that a listed job is genuine, lawful, safe, or will remain available, and we do not promise that any user will obtain work, workers, interviews, or specific outcomes.
2.5 User due diligence
Each user must carry out their own checks (for example, right-to-work, insurance, references, and workplace safety) before entering into any engagement. By using the Service, you acknowledge that any reliance on information posted by third parties is at your own risk.
2.6 Content moderation rights
We reserve the right—but have no obligation—to screen, edit, remove, or refuse any listing or user content that we reasonably believe to be inaccurate, unlawful, discriminatory, or otherwise in breach of these Terms or applicable law.
3. Eligibility & Age Requirement
3.1 Minimum age
The Service is offered only to natural persons who are at least 18 years old. By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you are 18 or over and legally capable of entering a binding contract.
3.2 UK residency and right to work
You must be ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom and legally entitled to live and work here. By registering, you warrant that this is true and that you will not use the Service to seek or offer work outside the UK.
3.3 Separate eligibility for Hiring Parties
If you post jobs or otherwise act as a Hiring Party, you must:
• be established or authorised to do business in the UK; and
• comply with all applicable employment, health-and-safety, tax, and anti-discrimination laws when offering work through the Service.
3.4 One account per person; accurate information
You may hold only one user account and must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information at all times. Misrepresentation of age, identity, location, or qualifications is a material breach of these Terms.
3.5 Proof of eligibility
We may request documentary proof of your age, UK residency, or right to work (for example, a passport or share-code check) if we reasonably suspect misuse. Failure to provide satisfactory evidence may result in suspension or termination of your account.
3.6 No access for minors
You agree not to allow any person under 18 to access or use your account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 and will delete such data if discovered.
3.7 Consequences of ineligibility
We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate access to the Service for any user who does not meet—or whom we reasonably believe does not meet—the above requirements.
4. Account Registration & Security
4.1 Accurate information and verification
To register, you must provide your legal name, a valid email address, and any other details we request. You warrant that all information is true, complete, and kept up to date. We may send a verification link, code, or “right-to-work” check and may refuse or cancel any registration that fails verification.
4.2 One account, personal use
Each individual may hold only one user account, which is for your personal use (job-seeker or authorised Hiring-Party representative). You must not transfer, sell, or otherwise permit anyone else to use your credentials.
4.3 Passwords and multifactor security
You must choose a strong, unique password and enable any multifactor authentication we make available. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for all activities that occur under your account.
4.4 Unauthorised access
You must immediately notify us at info@findastart.co.uk if you become aware of unauthorised access, suspected security breaches, or loss of any device that is logged in to the Service. We may temporarily suspend the account until the issue is resolved.
4.5 Security measures
We may, at our discretion, require you to update your password, enable multifactor authentication, or complete additional identity checks. Failure to comply may result in limited functionality or suspension.
4.6 Username and profile content
We reserve the right to reclaim or re-assign any username that infringes someone else’s rights, misleads other users, or is otherwise objectionable. Profile images, bios, and other account content must comply with Section 5 (Acceptable Use & Content Rules).
4.7 Employer / Hiring-Party accounts
If you create or use an account on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company to these Terms. All references to “you” include both the individual user and the company.
4.8 Account closure by you
You may delete your account at any time via the in-app settings. Deleting the mobile app alone does not close your account; you must follow the in-app or website account-deletion process.
4.9 Suspension or termination by us
We may suspend or terminate any account that, in our reasonable opinion, (a) breaches these Terms, (b) poses a security or fraud risk, or (c) is inactive for more than 12 months. We will normally give notice, but we may act without notice if necessary to protect users or the Service.
4.10 Limited liability for unauthorised use
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from unauthorised access caused by your failure to secure your credentials or promptly notify us of a breach.
5. Acceptable Use & Content Rules
These rules apply to everything you upload, transmit, post, or do on the Service, including job
listings, profiles, messages, feedback, timesheets, and payment notes. Breach of any rule is
grounds for immediate suspension or termination under Section 15.
5.1 Lawful, non-discriminatory, and ethical conduct
You must comply with all applicable UK legislation, regulations, and official guidance,
including the Equality Act 2010 and the Modern Slavery Act 2015. You must not:
• publish job ads or messages that discriminate—directly or indirectly—on the basis of age,
sex, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic;
• solicit, advertise, or facilitate work that constitutes modern slavery, forced labour,
human trafficking, or any other exploitative practice;
• solicit or offer work that would contravene minimum-wage, working-time, health-and-safety,
immigration, or right-to-work legislation;
• engage in harassment, defamation, fraud, deception, or any other unlawful or abusive
behaviour.
5.2 Prohibited content
You must not upload, post, or transmit any content that:
• is false, misleading, or deceptive;
• infringes copyright, trade-mark, privacy, or other third-party rights;
• contains personal data of anyone else without their explicit consent;
• includes viruses, malware, phishing links, or any code intended to damage or hijack
systems;
• promotes illegal activities, violence, self-harm, or exploitative labour practices;
• advertises or links to competing recruitment platforms, fee-avoidance schemes, or
unrelated products and services.
5.3 Prohibited technical behaviour
You must not, and must not attempt to:
• scrape, harvest, “spider,” or otherwise collect data or CVs at scale;
• use bots, scripts, or automated systems to create accounts, post jobs, or send
messages;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its
underlying code;
• interfere with or disrupt servers, networks, or security-related features;
• bypass or disable any measures we deploy to verify identity, control access, or enforce
rate limits.
5.4 Fee-avoidance and off-platform dealings
Hiring Parties and job-seekers must not solicit or complete transactions off the platform in
order to evade Service fees or agreed payment processes. If you wish to contract outside the
platform, you must first follow any off-platform buy-out procedure we may offer.
5.5 Accuracy of listings and profiles
• Job ads must describe the role, duties, rate, location, and required qualifications
truthfully and in sufficient detail.
• Profiles, CVs, and credentials must be accurate and not materially exaggerated.
• Out-of-date or filled positions must be removed or marked as closed without delay.
5.6 Monitoring and enforcement
We reserve the right (but are not obliged) to monitor, screen, edit, or remove any content and
to cooperate with law-enforcement authorities or rights-holders. We may disclose your identity
and account data if required by law or if we reasonably believe such disclosure will prevent
harm or illegal activity.
5.7 Reporting violations
If you believe content or conduct on the Service breaches these rules, please report it to
info@findastart.co.uk or use the in-app “Report”
function. We will review reports promptly and take appropriate action in our sole discretion.
6. Data Protection & Privacy
Find A Start Ltd is committed to safeguarding the personal data you entrust to us. This section summarises our key obligations under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy, which is hereby incorporated into these Terms.
6.1 Controller

6.10 Location data
Precise GPS data are used only for job-matching, on-site check-ins, and fraud prevention. You can disable location permissions in your device settings, but some features may stop working.
6.11 Queries
Questions about data protection can be sent to info@findastart.co.uk.
7. Job Listings & Applications
7.1 Source of Listings.
All job advertisements (each a “Listing”) are created and posted by third-party hiring entities (“Hiring Parties”). Find A Start Ltd (“we”, “us”) does not author, edit, or verify the accuracy of any Listing and makes no representation that a particular role is still available, suitable, or lawful.
7.2 Venue-Only Function.
We act solely as an online venue under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. We do not (i) introduce or supply work-seekers to Hiring Parties, (ii) guarantee that a Listing is genuine, current, or non-misleading, (iii) vet the identity, business status, or creditworthiness of any Hiring Party, or (iv) guarantee that you will obtain an interview, offer, or engagement.
7.3 Hiring Party Obligations.
Hiring Parties must:
• ensure all Listings are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with applicable UK law—including the Equality Act 2010, National Minimum Wage Act 1998, and any sector-specific regulations;
• offer pay that meets or exceeds the prevailing National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage (as applicable) and must not require unpaid labour, “trial shifts,” or fees from job-seekers except where expressly permitted by law;
• refrain from publishing discriminatory, misleading, or illegal content; and
• promptly remove or update Listings that are filled, withdrawn, or materially changed.
We may suspend or remove any Listing that appears to breach these Terms or any law—including Listings that advertise pay below the statutory minimum or demand unpaid work—without notice or liability.
7.4 Job-Seeker Responsibilities.
Job-seekers (“you”) remain solely responsible for (i) reviewing each Listing and any offer terms independently, (ii) verifying the identity and legitimacy of the Hiring Party, (iii) satisfying yourself that the role meets your legal right-to-work status and any professional requirements, and (iv) negotiating and entering into any contract directly with the Hiring Party. Never disclose sensitive personal data (e.g., passport number, National Insurance number, bank details) unless and until you have verified the Hiring Party and the necessity of such disclosure.
7.5 Applications & Messaging.
• Submission. When you apply via the platform or in-app messaging, your profile, CV, and any additional information you supply will be forwarded to the relevant Hiring Party. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to transmit, store, and process that content for recruitment purposes.
• Delivery Not Guaranteed. We use reasonable technical efforts to deliver your application but do not warrant uninterrupted transmission or receipt.
• No Employer–Employee Relationship. Submitting an application creates no employment, agency, or partnership relationship between you and us.
7.6 Automated Scoring & Recommendations.
The platform may use algorithmic ranking or “match scores” to surface Listings that appear relevant. Such scores are informational only; you must exercise your own judgment. We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any automated suggestions.
7.7 Prohibited Listings and Applications.
Listings or applications that: (i) seek or offer services to or from persons under 18; (ii) involve illegal, unsafe, exploitative, or under-paid work (including pay below the statutory minimum or unpaid trial shifts); (iii) request up-front payment from job-seekers; or (iv) otherwise breach these Terms or UK law, are forbidden and may be removed without notice. We may report suspected unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.
7.8 Feedback & Ratings.
Where the Service allows job-seekers or Hiring Parties to rate or review each other, feedback must be honest, non-defamatory, and compliant with the Acceptable Use & Content Rules. We may moderate or delete feedback at our discretion.
7.9 No Fees to Job-Seekers.
Find A Start does not charge job-seekers any fee for accessing or applying to Listings. If a Hiring Party demands payment from you in connection with a Listing, notify us immediately.
7.10 Limitation of Liability (Listings).
In addition to the general Limitation of Liability in Section 13, we are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on a Listing, failure to secure employment, or disputes with a Hiring Party, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.
7.11 Compliance Reviews & Removal.
We may (but are not obliged to) conduct random or targeted audits of Listings to verify compliance with these Terms—including pay-rate checks. If we reasonably believe a Listing is non-compliant or exposes us to legal risk, we may remove, edit, or refuse to publish it and, where appropriate, notify the Hiring Party or relevant authorities.
8. Payments & Fees
8.1 Third-Party Payment Processor
All monetary transactions on the Service are executed by a regulated third-party payment service provider (“Payment Processor”). By making or receiving a payment you agree to the Payment Processor’s terms and privacy notice. We never store complete card or bank-account numbers.
8.2 Who Pays Fees
Hiring Parties pay (i) a per-Listing fee and/or (ii) a platform service fee on each completed engagement, both plus VAT where applicable.
Job-seekers pay no fees to use or apply through the Service. Any attempt by a Hiring Party to charge a job-seeker for access or placement violates these Terms.
8.3 Fee Disclosure & Authorisation
Before you confirm any transaction we display the exact fees, taxes, and totals. By clicking “Pay” (or similar) you authorise the Payment Processor to (a) debit your chosen funding source for the amount shown and (b) credit Find A Start Ltd with its platform fees.
8.4 Collection, Safeguarding & Release of Funds
Engagement payments are collected by the Payment Processor and placed in its safeguarded client-funds account in accordance with the UK Payment Services Regulations 2017. The Payment Processor—not Find A Start—holds legal title to those funds until they are released. Funds may be pooled with other client monies and are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Once the Hiring Party marks the job “approved,” or seven (7) calendar days have elapsed without a dispute, we instruct the Payment Processor to pay the net amount to the job-seeker’s verified bank account. Actual settlement times depend on the banking system and are outside our control.
8.5 Disputes, Charge-backs & Offsets
If a Hiring Party raises a dispute or a card issuer reverses a charge, we may (a) place a hold on related funds, (b) reverse corresponding payouts, and/or (c) debit or re-debit any stored payment method you have provided to recoup the outstanding amount. You must cooperate with us and the Payment Processor in supplying evidence to resolve the matter promptly.
8.6 Taxes
Each user is solely responsible for determining and meeting any tax obligations arising from amounts paid or received through the Service, including income tax, National Insurance and VAT. We do not provide tax advice and are not your tax agent.
8.7 Currency
All prices, fees, and payouts are denominated in pounds sterling (GBP). If you fund a payment from a non-GBP account, your card issuer or bank may apply currency-conversion charges that we do not control.
8.8 Non-Circumvention
Hiring Parties agree not to engage or pay a job-seeker introduced via the Service outside the platform for ninety (90) days from first contact, unless they first pay Find A Start a buy-out fee equal to 15 % of the projected gross remuneration for the engagement (plus VAT).
8.9 Failure to Pay
Unpaid or failed amounts become immediately due and may accrue interest at 4 % per annum above the Bank of England base rate. You remain liable for all reasonable collection costs—including additional payment-method fees, legal fees, and third-party recovery charges—and we may collect such amounts from any payment instrument on file.
8.10 Changes to Fees
We may revise platform fees or introduce new paid features. Any material change will be announced by e-mail at least fourteen (14) days in advance and will apply only to transactions initiated after the effective date.
8.11 No Fiduciary or Escrow Relationship
We are not your trustee, escrow agent, broker, or employer. Neither we nor the Payment Processor owe you fiduciary duties in relation to funds held on your behalf.
8.12 Limitation of Liability (Payments)
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss arising from a payment transaction is limited as set out in Section 13 (Limitation of Liability).
9. Communications & Notifications
9.1 Channels We Use
When you create an account you provide at least one verified e-mail address and, optionally, a mobile number. You consent to receive communications from Find A Start Ltd (“we”, “us”) via:
• e-mail,
• SMS or WhatsApp,
• in-app or push notifications, and
• alerts displayed on the website.
9.2 Service Messages (Transactional)
We send “service messages” that are necessary to operate the platform—e.g., account-activation links, MFA codes, job-match alerts you enable, payment receipts, dispute updates, and notices about changes to these Terms or our Privacy Policy. Service messages are not marketing; you cannot opt out of them without closing your account.
9.3 Marketing Communications
With your explicit opt-in consent (required under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003), we may send newsletters, promotions, or surveys. You may withdraw consent at any time by:
• clicking Unsubscribe in an e-mail footer,
• replying STOP to an SMS, or
• changing the toggle in Settings ▸ Notifications.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of marketing sent before the opt-out took effect.
9.4 Security & Verification
We may send one-time passwords, device-verification requests, or fraud-prevention alerts. You authorise us and our sub-processors to generate and deliver such messages. Failure to receive or act on a security message may limit or suspend your account.
9.5 Legal Notices by Electronic Means
Unless mandatory law requires a different method, all notices—including those required under the Companies Act 2006 or the Consumer Rights Act 2015—may be provided electronically and will be deemed received:
• at the time of transmission for e-mail, or
• when first made available in your account for in-app notices.
9.6 Delivery Disclaimers
Electronic communication is subject to carrier or internet failures outside our control. We do not guarantee delivery or real-time receipt. Check your spam folder and keep your contact details up to date.
9.7 Data & Message Charges
Your network operator may charge for data or SMS. You are solely responsible for those costs.
9.8 Recording & Retention
We may log and store copies of e-mails, SMS messages, and in-app chats for compliance, dispute resolution, and quality assurance, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR retention rules.
9.9 Withdrawing Consent to Electronic Communications
You may request to receive legally-required notices on paper by writing to info@findastart.co.uk with the subject line “Paper Notice Request.” We may charge a reasonable administration fee and processing may take up to 14 days. If you withdraw consent to all electronic communications we may be obliged to close your account because the Service is designed to operate digitally.
10. Intellectual Property
10.1 Platform Materials
The Service—including all software, source code, databases, site/app design, text, graphics, photographs, audio, video, and interactive features (collectively “Platform Content”)—is owned or licensed by Find A Start Ltd and protected by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, the Trade Marks Act 1994, UK database-right regulations, and international treaties.
10.2 Limited Personal Licence
We grant you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Platform Content solely for (a) searching for job opportunities and (b) managing engagements obtained through the Service. Except as expressly permitted by law, you may not copy, modify, adapt, translate, publish, transmit, distribute, sell, licence, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the Platform Content without our prior written consent.
10.3 Trade Marks
“Find A Start”, the Find A Start logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are UK trade marks or unregistered trade-mark rights of Find A Start Ltd. You may not use any mark in a way that is likely to cause confusion or dilute our rights.
10.4 User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of CVs, messages, reviews, logos, or other materials you upload (“User Content”). By submitting User Content you grant Find A Start Ltd a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, index, copy, transmit, display, and otherwise process the User Content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service and, where applicable, for sharing with Hiring Parties as set out in Section 7. This licence ends when you delete the User Content from the Service, except to the extent the content has been shared with—or downloaded by—other users.
10.5 Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions (“Feedback”), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide licence to use that Feedback without obligation or compensation to you. You waive any moral rights you may have in the Feedback to the extent permitted by law.
10.6 Third-Party Rights
The Service may display trade marks or copyrighted works owned by third parties (e.g., Hiring Party logos). All such rights remain with their respective owners. Inclusion on the Service does not imply endorsement.
10.7 Infringement Notices (Takedown Procedure)
If you believe that any content on the Service infringes your copyright or other IP right, please e-mail info@findastart.co.uk with:
• Your full name and contact details;
• Identification of the work claimed to be infringed;
• The URL or other precise location of the infringing content;
• A statement, made in good faith, that the disputed use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law; and
• A statement that the information you provide is accurate and (for copyright claims) that you are the rights-holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
Upon receipt of a compliant notice we will promptly investigate and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the content and notify the user responsible.
10.8 Reservation of Rights
Except for the limited licence granted above, no rights, title, or interest in or to the Platform Content or trade marks are transferred to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Find A Start Ltd and its licensors.
11. Third-Party Links & Integrations
11.1 External Websites
The Service may contain hyperlinks to websites or resources operated by third parties (“External Sites”). We provide these links for convenience only and do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any External Site. Accessing an External Site is at your own risk.
11.2 Third-Party Services & APIs
Certain features (e.g., payment processing, mapping, push notifications, identity verification) rely on third-party software, application-programming interfaces (APIs), or software-development kits (SDKs) (“Third-Party Services”). Your use of a Third-Party Service is subject to that provider’s own terms and privacy notice, which may differ from ours. If a Third-Party Service ceases to operate or materially changes its terms, we may modify or disable the associated feature without liability.
11.3 Social Sign-On & OAuth
If you register or log in using a social-media or single-sign-on provider (e.g., Apple, Google, LinkedIn), you authorise us to receive limited account information as permitted by that provider’s settings. You may revoke this permission at any time via the provider’s account controls, but doing so may disable your access to the Service.
11.4 Embedded or Framed Content
Listings may display embedded videos, maps, or widgets hosted by third parties. We do not guarantee that such embedded content is free of malware or conforms to accessibility standards. Report concerns to info@findastart.co.uk.
11.5 Open-Source Components
The Service incorporates open-source libraries licensed under their respective OSI-approved licences. Those licences grant you direct rights that are not restricted by these Terms.
11.6 Transactions with Third Parties
Any contract you enter into with a third party—whether a Hiring Party, advertiser, or service provider—is solely between you and that third party. Find A Start Ltd is not a party to, and disclaims all liability for, such dealings.
11.7 Data Sharing & Security
Where technically necessary, we may transmit limited user data (e.g., e-mail address, device ID, payment token) to a Third-Party Service to enable a feature. We take reasonable steps to ensure those providers comply with UK GDPR, but we cannot guarantee their security practices. Review each provider’s privacy notice.
11.8 Google Maps & Other Mapping Providers
If the Service displays maps or geolocation data sourced from Google Maps Platform or equivalent services, your use is also governed by (i) the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and (ii) the Google Privacy Policy, or the equivalent terms of the alternate mapping provider.
11.9 No Endorsement or Warranty
Reference to, or integration with, any third-party product, service, or website does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by Find A Start Ltd. We provide Third-Party Links & Integrations “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. Our overall liability remains limited as described in Section 13 (Limitation of Liability).
12. Disclaimers
12.1 “As-is / as-available.”
The Service (including all job listings, profiles, communications tools, analytics and any beta or AI-generated features) is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we give no express warranties and exclude all implied warranties, conditions and other terms of any kind, including (but not limited to) any implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment.
12.2 No guarantee of employment or candidates.
Find A Start is an online venue only. We do not guarantee that:
• any job advert is accurate, current or suitable;
• any job-seeker will receive an interview, offer or engagement;
• any hiring party will fill a vacancy, or that a candidate will hold the qualifications, right-to-work status or experience they claim; or
• communications sent through the Service will be delivered, received, read or acted upon.
12.3 Third-party content and links.
The Service may contain content uploaded by users or links to third-party websites, apps or services (including mapping data and payment processing). Such content and links are provided for convenience only. We do not endorse or accept responsibility for any third-party content, products or services, or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.
12.4 External data sources.
Parts of the Service display or rely on information supplied by users, recruiters, public registers, mapping providers or other third-party sources. We do not audit or verify that information and are not liable for any inaccuracies in such data or for any consequences arising from your use of it.
12.5 No professional or legal advice.
Information made available through the Service is for general information only. It is not legal, tax, employment, immigration or other professional advice and should not be relied upon as such. You should obtain independent advice before acting on any information obtained via the Service.
12.6 Service interruptions and data loss.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free or free of viruses or other harmful components, nor that any defects will be corrected. We are not responsible for any loss, corruption or unauthorised disclosure of data transmitted through, or stored on, the Service or our third-party providers.
12.7 Beta features & AI outputs.
Any beta, preview or AI-assisted feature is experimental. Results may be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate. You remain solely responsible for reviewing, validating and deciding how to use any output before relying on it or sharing it with others.
12.8 Statutory rights preserved.
Nothing in these Disclaimers affects any rights you may have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, nor does it exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 Losses we do not cover. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Find A Start Ltd and its directors, employees and suppliers shall not be liable for:
- Loss of profits, sales, business, revenue or anticipated savings;
- Loss of contracts, goodwill or reputation;
- Loss or corruption of data or content; or
- Any indirect, consequential, special or punitive loss or damage, whether arising in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise—even if foreseeable.
13.2 Overall cap. Subject to clause 13.4, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service, any content on it and these Terms (however caused) is limited to the greater of:
- £100 (one-hundred pounds sterling);
- The total fees you have paid to Find A Start Ltd in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.
13.3 Business vs. consumer use. We provide the Service primarily for individual job-seeking and hiring purposes. If you use the Service for any commercial or business purpose, you agree that clauses 13.1 and 13.2 fairly allocate risk and that we shall have no liability for any business losses or damage of the kind described in clause 13.1.
13.4 Liability we do not exclude or limit. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- Breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015; or
- Any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
13.5 Basis of bargain. You acknowledge that the Disclaimers in Section 12 and the limitations in this Section 13 are an essential basis of the bargain between you and us, and that we would not be able to provide the Service on the same economic terms without them.
13.6 Different caps in supplemental terms. If you enter into separate written terms with us for a paid or premium feature that specify a different liability cap, the cap in those feature-specific terms will apply to that feature instead of the cap in clause 13.2 above.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Find A Start Ltd, its directors, officers, employees, agents and service providers (collectively, “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, liabilities, losses, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:
14.1 Your obligation
• your breach of these Terms or of any supplemental terms;
• any content, data or materials you submit, upload or transmit through the Service (including CVs, job ads, messages or reviews);
• your infringement of any intellectual-property, privacy, publicity or data-protection right of a third party;
• any misrepresentation, fraud or negligent act by you;
• any violation of applicable law (including the Equality Act 2010, Employment Agencies & Employment Business Regulations 2003, Modern Slavery Act 2015, UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018); and
• if you are a Hiring Party, any employment-related claim, wage or tax liability, workplace injury, or right-to-work dispute concerning a job-seeker you engage through the Service.
14.2 Procedure
We will give you prompt written notice of any claim for which we seek indemnity (except that delay will not relieve you of your obligations unless it prejudices your defence). We may, at our sole discretion:
• allow you to defend the claim, provided you conduct the defence diligently and in good faith; or
• assume exclusive control of the defence and settlement (at your cost), in which case you must provide reasonable co-operation and information on request.
14.3 No settlements without consent
You may not settle any claim in a manner that imposes an admission of liability on, or creates any obligation for, an Indemnified Party without our prior written consent (not to be unreasonably withheld).
14.4 Statutory rights preserved
Nothing in this Section limits any right you may have under consumer-protection law that cannot lawfully be waived or shifted.
15. Termination & Suspension
15.1 Termination by you
You may close your Find A Start account at any time through the in-app settings. Termination takes effect immediately, but these Terms will continue to apply to any outstanding obligations (for example, fees incurred or applications already submitted).
15.2 Suspension or termination by us
We may, at our sole discretion, suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to all or any part of the Service—immediately and without liability—if we reasonably believe that:
• you have breached these Terms, any supplemental terms, or applicable law;
• you have provided false, misleading, or incomplete information;
• your conduct poses a security, legal, reputational, or financial risk to us, another user, or a third party;
• you fail to pay fees when due;
• we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or the request of a competent authority;
• your account has been completely inactive for twelve (12) consecutive months (in which case we will send at least one reminder email before closure);
• continuing to provide the Service is no longer commercially viable.
15.3 Notice
Where practical, we will notify you by email or in-app alert before or shortly after any suspension or termination. In urgent or egregious cases (for example, suspected fraud or security threats) we may act without prior notice.
15.4 Effect of suspension or termination
• Access. All licences and rights granted to you under these Terms will cease. You must stop using the Service and delete any downloaded data that you are not legally entitled to retain.
• Data retention and deletion. We will keep your personal data for up to twelve (12) months after account closure in order to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce these Terms, after which it will be securely deleted or anonymised unless a longer retention period is required by law.
• Outstanding obligations. Termination does not affect any accrued rights or obligations, including payment of outstanding fees or the completion of ongoing engagements arranged through the Service.
• Surviving provisions. Clauses that by their nature are intended to survive—such as Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, Governing Law & Jurisdiction—will remain in force.
15.5 Appeal process
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may contact info@findastart.co.uk within thirty (30) days of the notice. We will review your appeal in good faith but are not obliged to reinstate the account.
15.6 No liability for termination
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable to you for any loss or damage arising out of, or in connection with, the suspension or termination of your access to the Service in accordance with this Section 15.
16. Changes to Terms
16.1 Advance notice of changes.
Find A Start Ltd may revise these Terms from time to time. Except as set out in clause 16.2, we will (a) email the address linked to your account and (b) update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page at least 14 days before the revised Terms take effect (the “Notice Period”).
16.2 Urgent changes.
We may implement changes with shorter or no notice where necessary to: (i) comply with applicable law or a binding order of a court or regulator; (ii) address an unforeseen and imminent security, fraud, or technical risk; or (iii) prevent abuse of the Service. We will notify you of any such urgent change as soon as reasonably practicable.
16.3 Your right to reject changes.
If you do not agree to a revision, you may close your account at any time during the Notice Period:
• Consumers. Where you are a “consumer” under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and have pre-paid fees for services extending beyond the closure date, we will refund pro-rata any unused portion of those fees within 14 days of account closure.
• Business users. For business accounts, prepaid fees are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated in a separate agreement with us.
16.4 Acceptance by continued use.
Unless you close your account under clause 16.3, your continued access to or use of the Service on or after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
16.5 Supplemental terms.
Certain features or programmes may be governed by additional or supplemental terms. If those terms conflict with these Terms, the supplemental terms will control for that feature or programme.
17. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
17.1 Choice of law
These Terms, and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
17.2 Business users
If you use the Service in the course of a business, trade or profession, you and Find A Start Ltd agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
17.3 Consumers
If you use the Service as a consumer:
• you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales; or
• if you are resident in Scotland, you may instead bring proceedings in the Scottish courts; or
• if you are resident in Northern Ireland, you may instead bring proceedings in the Northern Irish courts.
17.4 Exclusion of international conventions
The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply to these Terms.
